SOLA preserves and advances “Souldies” culture, protecting the integrity of the golden era of soul while connecting its legacy to a new generation.
Through culturally rooted collaboration, SOLA builds independent infrastructure—creating space for authentic music outside mainstream formulas and advancing Chicano and Latino creative ownership.
ABOUT US
2020 — The Beginning
The label launched with its debut release by Thee Illusions, produced by Gabriel Rowland of Los Yesterdays at the legendary Sound Factory in Hollywood. Pressed in a strictly limited run of 500 copies with no repress, the record sold out within 24 hours, defining SOLA’s identity around intention, scarcity, and demand-driven releases.
2021 — Momentum Builds
Debut singles from NIRA and Jackie Mendez followed, each released in equally limited 500-unit pressings and selling out in under 10 days.
2023 — Global Expansion
SOLA expanded its reach with a landmark collaboration alongside icon Joe Bataan "The King of Latin Soul".
Released in partnership through Chicano-owned distributor
Raza Del Soul in San Jose, California. The record became an international top-seller and marked a defining moment in the label’s growing global presence.
Recognition
SOLA’s work has been recognized at the highest levels of the culture. The late Jackie Nuñez, Recording Academy member and widely regarded as the “Queen of Latin Soul,” selected Jackie Mendez’s debut single “Back Burner” for Grammy consideration. The track was recorded at All Welcome Records in Inglewood, California, produced by Felipe Navarro and Adrian Carmine
